5 Tips for Keeping Cool on the Golf Course
Jul 23rd 2015
Now that we're in the middle of summer, even those early morning tee times turn into hot rounds of golf by the 18th hole. Here are some tips to help you stay cool and comfortable so that you can enjoy each round at little more this summer.
- Wear light colored clothes. Light colors reflect the heat better than dark colors, so stick to white, khaki, light pink and other light colors for your golf shirts.
- Choose clothes that are lightweight cotton or a tech fabric that is breathable and wicks away moisture.
- Stay hydrated. Most women's golf bags have insulated cooling pockets to keep your water cold, so take advantage of that feature. Avoid alcoholic beverages, sodas and juices when possible. Try to drink 1-2 glasses of water before you hit the golf course and then drink one-half to one cup every 15 to 20 minutes during your round while out in the sun to avoid getting dehydrated.
- Wear a visor instead of a hat. Hats keep your heat from being released through one of the best vents you have - the top of your head! A visor will protect your face from the sun while letting heat escape from your head.
- Consider sun sleeves. They help wick away moisture and they actually keep you feeling cooler than just bare arms.
